He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Myrtie B. Boozer; his daughter, Susan Appleby; and his brothers, Charles, Lester, and Jewel Guy Boozer.
Survivors include his wife, Jewel West Boozer of Tuscaloosa; his daughter, Laura E. O'Bryant (Robby) of Northport; his sons, Luther D. Boozer, Jr. (Cathy) of Deatsville and John A. Boozer (Rose) of Moundville; his brother, Alec J. Boozer (Mary Faye) of Birmingham; 14 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He worked as Lock Attendant and Lockmaster for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, retiring after 38 years of service. He loved gardening and his family greatly. He was a member of Valley View Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Stephen Appleby, Daniel Appleby, and Andrew Appleby, all of Tuscaloosa, Joseph O'Bryant of Cottondale, and his nephews, Ray Pennington of West Blocton and Kevin West of Clanton.
Honorary pallbearers are Hospice of West Alabama, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, special friends, Edgar and Evelyn Davis, James and Peggy Hardemon, Walden and Betty Bailey, and Steve and Shirley Wyatt, members of Ben McClure Bible Study Class, Sunlighters, Betty Hendrix Bible Study Group.
