He was born April 22, 1879, in Chicago. In 1899 he came to Idaho and was employed by the Tread Dollar Mining company at Silver City.
Mr. Smith moved to Twin Falls in 1909. He was employed by the Twin Falls Canal company for about 10 years preceding 1949, when he moved to Boise. He had been bailiff of the state supreme court for the past four years.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Iris Smith, whom he married Dec. 20, 1928, in Elko; one daughter, Mrs. Lillian Langham, Boise; two grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Maud S. Barrett and Eleanor Smith, both Washington, D.C.
Two brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the White mortuary chapel and interment will be made in Sunset Memorial park. Twin Falls Elks lodge No. 1183 will be in charge of the rites.
