Laverna Priesmeyer was born on February 23, 1928, in Brenham Texas. She passed away on April 26, 2016 at 88 years of age in Bellville, Texas. Daughter of Louis and Lenora (Hauck) Klaus, she was baptized at St. Pauls Lutheran church in Brenham and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Brenham, Texas. On September 7, 1947, Laverna married H.F. Priesmeyer in Brenham, Texas. They moved to Bellville in 1959 where they were members of St. John Lutheran Church. In her early years, Laverna was employed at New York Store and J.C. Penny’s in Brenham. Laverna enjoyed playing dominoes, bowling and visiting with friends. But, mostly she enjoyed being a housewife and mother to their two children.
H.F. proceeded Laverna in death in 2003 after 56 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by their son, Ronald Ray Priesmeyer of Katy on February 12, 2014 and son-in-law Robert E. Watts, Jr. of Silsbee on June 29, 2010.
Laverna is survived by her brother, Louis P. Klaus, Jr. and wife Mary Elise of Houston, daughter Linda Kay Watts of Silsbee, daughter-in-law Christine Priesmeyer and her son Jeff Washmond, of Katy. Grandchildren: Kristinna Walles and husband Micheal of Orangefield, Jacob Watts and wife Rebecca of Silsbee and Andrew Watts of Silsbee. Fourteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Visitation is at Knesek Funeral Chapel in Bellville, Texas on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 1:00 pm and her funeral service follows at 2:00pm, interment at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery.
