Veldon Floyd Mortensen, 90, of Rigby, died April 11, 2003, at East Idaho Regional Medical Center following a stroke. He was born June 24, 1912, at Salem, Idaho, to Peter Mortensen and Annie Harris. He grew up in Salem and attended school in Sugar City. He married Lilly Luella Rock February 10, 1934, in Idaho Falls. They made their home in Idaho Falls, where he worked as a master mechanic and construction supervisor for U & I Sugar Company for 50 years. He also drove school bus in Idaho Falls for five years. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed making jewelry, fishing, travel, woodworking, rock collecting, golf, and dancing.

He was preceded by sons Veldon Ray Mortensen and James Errol Mortensen, eight brothers, and three sisters. Funeral Services held Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at Garfield 2nd Ward, 71 N. 3700 East, Rigby, with Bishop Karl M. Stucki officiating. Burial in Rexburg Cemetery directed by Wood Funeral Home.
