Agnes Ann Baird was the youngest of eight children born to John and Agnes (Hay) Baird. She was only eight months old when her father died and 14 years old when her mother died. She graduated in 1895 from the Women's Hospital Nurses Training School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In the 1900 US Census Agnes Baird, already a nurse, had been in school for 5 months (a boarder) at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois. When Rev. James and Ellen (Baird) Kelly moved to Alberta, Canada, Agnes went along with her sister's family. Agnes was known as "Auntie Baird" to Ellen's grandchildren. Some of them did not even know her first name. She was known as a very stern, strict woman, a spinster. She nursed in Grande Prairie Presbyterian Mission hospital and was at the first white wedding in northern Alberta. She returned to the United States and lived with a nephew in Nebraska. Agnes later lived at Shreveport, Louisiana, died there and was buried at Formoso, Kansas.
