Otis 'Smokey' Stinnett
Otis "Smokey" Dean Stinnett, 66, died Sunday, July 15, 2001, at his residence following a long illness.
Born May 4, 1935, at Clear Fork, he was the son of the late Oather and Wanda Gunnoe Stinnett.
Mr. Stinnett was a member of Toneda Baptist Church and a coal miner with 35 years of service at Eastern Associated Coal Corp.'s Kopperston No. 1 working as a brakeman and a dispatcher. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, a resident of Wyoming County all of his life and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Marvin Eugene Stinnett, Thomas E. Stinnett, Finley Stinnett and Roby Stinnett.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Susie L. Gibson Stinnett; two sons, Otis Lee Stinnett of Elkin, N.C., and Kevin Dale Stinnett and his wife, Linda, of Lynco; and two stepgranddaughters, Jessica and Adrianne Allen, both of Lynco.
Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Toneda Baptist Church with Pastor Ron Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in Kennedy Cemetery, Clear Fork.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the church and one hour before the service Thursday. Pallbearers will be Emory Dale Crouse, Dave Stewart, Thomas Toler, Roger Gibson, Damen Brown, Billy Brown and Ellis Gibson.
