Dola Lou Barnes Bolak, 69, of Dewey Lake, died Dec. 18, 2000 at Avon Park, Fla.She was born Jan. 12, 1931, in Raisin Township, the daughter of Bert and Inice (Mattison) Lanning. She married Herbert Barnes on Aug. 29, 1953, in Tecumseh. She later married Frank Bolak Sr. on July 7, 1990, at St. Joseph Shrine, Brooklyn.Dola graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1949. She worked for GTE for 29 years in Tecumseh, Adrian, Dundee and Davison, retiring in 1980. She later worked for First Federal in Adrian for 8 1/2 years, retiring in 1991.Surviving are two half nieces, Marilyn Nobles and Dorothy (Lanning) Flynn; four stepchildren, Thomas (Janice) Barnes, Frank (Laurie) Bolak Jr., Karen (Richard) Holland and Donald Bolak. Also surviving are eight stepgrandchildren and six stepgreat-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Herb and Frank; a brother, Ned Lanning in 1971; two half sisters, Leora Nobles in 1942 and Leola Alderdyce in 1999, and a half brother, Merle Lanning in 1944.Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at St. Joseph Shrine Catholic Church in the Irish Hills, with the Rev. Fr. Carl Simon officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
