Funeral services for Mrs. Clara H. Conrad, 84, widow of the late Oscar Conrad, were held Monday afternoon, Oct. 22 at 2 p.m. from Our Savior Lutheran church. The Rev. W.C. Johannes officiated at the services and interment was in the Momence cemetery under the direction of the Ruge funeral home.
Mrs. Conrad passed away Saturday morning, Oct. 20 at St. Mary hospital in Kankakee after a lingering illness. She had lived on the east side of Momence.
Born Oct. 27, 1866 in Germany, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Pabst, Mrs. Conrad came to the United States in 1901. After settling in Chicago, she had moved to Momence in 1905.
Her husband, Oscar Conrad, who preceded her in death in 1937, was the founder of the Conrad Baking Co., with his son, H.W. Conrad.
Survivors include a son, Fred R. of Midland, Mich.; a daughter, Mrs. Martha Nagle of Momence; two sisters in Germany; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Three sons, H.W. Conrad, Carl Conrad and William Conrad and two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
