Megan Noel Bartley, 20, of Meridian, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 from injuries sustained in a car accident on I-84 outside of Mountain Home, Idaho. Megan was born in Frankfurt, Germany on December 13, 1988; Megan showed an immediate ability to use her blonde hair, blue eyes and cute dimples while perched from her dad's shoulders. She would flirt by cooing and then smiling shamelessly with the local Germans, often earning her parents preferential treatment when standing in long lines.

Megan moved with her parents to Idaho in January of 1990 and soon became a big sister to Brittany, followed quickly by Amanda. She relished being a big sister and was always quick to take charge of all play activities. Dressing up, camping, hiking or just playing with the family dog Meeko, Megan had a way of leading the fun. Playing on local soccer teams before there were separate girls and boys leagues, Megan delighted in running faster than the boys. She continued playing PAL soccer for seven years with her dad coaching (with their neighbor and friend John Miiller). Nicknamed Blondie by her dad, she wore that as her name on all soccer jerseys proudly. Then Girl Scouts captured her interest, where working with her mother as a Girl Scout Leader, Megan attained one of the highest level of achievements, the Silver Star award. Megan also filled her time growing up skiing during the winter and camping in the summer. She was on the high school ski team. During the camping trips, after catching her first fish, she paraded it around camp proudly. Megan loved to go tubing on the water, getting thrown about wildly, always laughing and just enjoying the moment. Her last entry on her Facebook on July 5th told everyone that she was having one of the best weekends ever camping with her family and the Spriggel family.

Megan was baptized into Christ and continued her walk with the Lord throughout her life. She spent many fun hours with the teen group from Linder Road Church of Christ. Megan volunteered in Pocatello to help the smaller congregation hold a successful vacation bible school, by driving back this summer for a few days. She loved to cook, bake and sew; anxiously waiting to find out how her latest creation from the kitchen was received. She loved being taught along with her sisters how to prepare fantastic dishes by her Mom. Between all of these interests, Megan found time to volunteer over 150 hours as a candy striper at St. Lukes Hospital.

When Meridian Medical Arts Charter High School opened the doors, Megan began an even more focused pursuit of her goals. From Dr., to Nurse Practitioner, she explored her options to help people. By the time of her high school graduation, Megan was a registered pharmacy technician, had completed the Certified Nursing Assistant course and was EMT trained. Megan enrolled at Idaho State University, where she pursued her aim in the health care arena. She was a junior, just beginning her goal to be a nutritionist. Megan was due also to begin her second year as a Resident Assistant, in charge of a floor full of young ladies. She always had a lot of activities planned for them and was so very helpful. Megan worked for the last four years at Walgreens during the summers and school breaks in the pharmacy department of the Cherry Lane and Ten-mile store. She will be missed by all her co-workers.

Megan met the love of her life, John Foley, in her first year of high school, where even her dad could not scare him away. They were inseparable and for the last four-and-a-half years made each other so very happy. They complimented each other. On New Years Eve, Megan burst into her parent's room to announce her engagement. She was so excited and over the last seven months Megan and her mom feverously planned the wedding. They often wondered if the next 12 months would be enough time to prepare for the June 12th, 2010 date. Megan showed what her true goal in life as a few years ago when; out of the blue she wrote a simple note to her mom. "To the Best Mom Ever. I love you so much. I can't wait, till one day that I become just like you. Love, Megan."

Megan left behind the touched hearts of many, including her mother and father, Wendy and Michael Bartley, her two sisters, Brittany and Amanda, her fiance, John Foley all of Meridian; both sets of grandparents, Leo and Lucille Bartley of Great Falls, Mont., and Ken and Betsey Sublette of Leesburg, Fla.; aunts and uncles, 26 first cousins, 12 second cousins, friends and neighbors too numerous to count. She has also left behind her church families at both Linder Road and Pocatello.

A visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2009 at Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at the Church Of Christ, 1555 N. Linder Road Meridian, ID 83642, followed by a potluck dinner at the church. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church Of Christ in Meridian. Arrangements have been entrusted to Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home, 105 E. Carlton Ave. Meridian, ID 83642, 888-4454.
