John Earl Black, 67, Biglerville R. 1, died at the Walter Reed Hospital, Washington, D.C., Wednesday evening at 7:30. He had been hospitalized for four days.

A native of Biglerville, he was a son of the late John H. and Lottie M. (Jacoby) Black, and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Biglerville, and of the Ira Lady American Legion Post 262 of Biglerville.

He had served with the Army for 20 years including service in World War II.

He had been a mechanic for the Musselman Division Plant of Pet Inc., at Gardners, retiring a year ago.

Surviving are his wife, the former Dorothy E. Brown, six children; Jackie E. Black, at home; Mrs. Kenneth E. McDannell, Gettysburg R. 3; Mrs. William E. Bly, East Berlin R. 2; Randy R. Black, at home; John E. Black Jr., Georgia and Donald Black, also of Georgia and four grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers and sisters, James Black, Gettysburg R. 4; Mrs. Wilson E. Wenk, Bendersville; Mrs. Bruce Shetter, Aspers, and Mrs. John Bowers, Gettysburg.

Burial will be Sunday in Sunnyside Cemetery, York Springs.
