She was the youngest of ten children and when a small child her parents moved to Richmond, Indiana, then shortly to Brook, Indiana. She received her eduction in the Newton County Public Schools and taught a number of years.
On September 29, 1881, she was united in marriage to Geo. O. Conn. Seven children were born to this union, two of them, with the husband, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Conn united with the M.E. Church in June, 1876 under the pastorate of Wm. Campbell and Aaron Wood. In this as in the performance of other duties, she was faithful until death.
Five children; Charles, Nelson, Nellie, Ida and Chester, nine grandchildren, two great- grandchildren and one brother, Samuel Merchant and many relatives and friends remain to mourn their loss.
