He was the second son and third child of Erwine Phinney Hodges and Lola Agnes Hackbarth. Erwine's nickname was "Tuffy" and that's the only name I ever heard him called when we were growing up as children.
He was married twice and had two daughters from his first marriage and one son from his second.
