Obituary, The Oklahoman, February 8, 1986
C. Newton Conley, died Jan. 28, 1986 in Canoga Park CA., after an extended illness. Services will be held at the Rose Hill Burial Park, 6001 NW Grand Blvd., at 10:30 a.m., Feb. 8, 1986. Rev. C. Ralson Smith will officiate. Burial will follow. Mr. Conley was born Feb. 14, 1902, to Mr. & Mrs. J.N. Conley in Medicine Mound TX. He graduated from Ochiltree High School, Perryton TX., and attended Texas A&M in College Station TX., where he studied Civil Engineering. On June 21, 1924, he and Mary Scott were married in Midland TX. This past year they celebrated 61 years of marriage. Mr. Conley was employed by Leonhardt Lumber Company for 44 years, where he was Treasurer, and also the building manager of the Leonhardt Building in Oklahoma City. He was very active in the Masonic Lodge, where he received many honors. He was past Potentate of the India Temple, Treasurer Emeritus of the India Temple, an office he held for 17 years. He was past Commander of the Knights Templar, member of the Royal Order of the Jesters, the Red Cross of Constantine, Siloam Lodge No. 270 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, Bethlehem Commandry No. 45. He was also a past President of the Oklahoma Movie Club, Oklahoma Rose Society and was a member of the Building Office Manager's Assn. He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters, Mary Jane Powell of Canoga Park CA., and Margaret Cashman of Springfield VA.; sister, Mrs. Charles Claybaugh of Brigham City UT; 5 grandchildren, John W. Powell, Robert E. Powell, W. Richard Cashman, Caroly n M. Cashman, and Jane E. Cashman; 2 great grandchildren, Christopher R. Powell and Joseph R. Powell. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Shrine Crippled Children's Hospital.
