LAWRENCE -- Leta B. Pine, 83, Lawrence, did Thursday, Sept. 2, 1999, at a Lawrence nursing home.
Mrs. Pine and her husband owned and operated Howard Pine's Greenhouse and Garden Center in North Lawrence until 1978, when their son bought the business from them.
She was born Aug. 14, 1916, in Lawrence, the daughter of Stephen and Jenny Henderson McCann. She was raised in Lawrence and graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in 1934.
Mrs. Pine ws a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Lawrence.
She married Howard H. Pine on April 6, 1936, in Lawrence. He survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Marvin Pine, James Pine and Gerald Pine, all of Lawrence; six grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren.
Mrs. Pine was preceded in death by two sons, Harold Pine and Edward Pine.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in Lawrence.
Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence.
Mrs. Pine will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday at the funeral home, where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Centenary United Methodist Church and sent in care of the funeral home.
