Elevator Fall Kills Man, 44
A 44-year-old employe of Carbon Fuel Co. at Carbon on Cabin Creek was killed Monday morning when he was crushed by an elevator he had been repairing. Dead is Ace Lawson Henderson of
Dry Branch. He was pronounced dead by Dr. M. R. Houck, the company physician.
Witnesses said Henderson was repairing a motor at the base of the elevator shaft in the Carbon
Fuel Co. office building when the elevator accidentally broke loose and crushed him.
Henderson was an employe of the Carbon Fuel Co. for more than 20 years, a World War II veteran
and a member of the Cabin Creek American Legion and the United Mine Workers of America.
Surviving are his wife, Tressa; three daughters, Karen, Paula and Pamala, all at home; a son,
Terry at home; two sisters, Mrs. Nora Asbury of McDowell and Mrs. Dora Carpenter of Cleveland,
Ohio; and a brother, John of Charleston.
Service will be held at 2 p. m. Wednesday in Dry Branch Freewill Baptist Church by Rev. Ellis Barker and Rev. Bert Leadmon, With burial in Montgomery Memorial Park. The body at Pryor Funeral Home at East Bank, will be taken to the home at 6 p. m. today and to the church an hour before service.
