Witcher

Dr. J. S. Witcher, a well known physician of this city, died last Friday morning at Holy Cross Hospital after a brief illness. Hemorrhage of the stomach, caused by gastric fever, was the cause of death. Dr. Witcher had been ailing only a few days, and his death was a sad surprise to his many friends in this city.

The deceased was a son of J. S. Witcher, a paymaster in the United States army, and was 37 years of age. Dr. Witcher is survived by his wife, who is a daughter of Judge C. S. Zane, and a daughter 4 years of age. The news of Dr. Witcher's death caused sorrow in many hearts, for few men had so many sincere friends in every walk of life. Impulsive, generous-hearted and a gentleman always. Dr. Witcher won the affection of all who knew him.

To his bereaved wife and family is extended the earnest sympathy of hosts of friends. Tender memories of his greatness of heart will ever linger in the minds of those who appreciated best his kindly nature.

That his rest may be peaceful is the earnest prayer of all who knew the noble-minded, generous physician!
