WILL OF ROBERT MATHEWS
I, Robert Mathews of the County of Johnson and State of Missouri - of Sound and disposity mind (although weak in body and not expecting to live long) desirous of disposing of the my worldly goods or estate with which God has blest me, according to my last will and testament - do hereby declare and publish this as my last will and testament.
I dispose of my worldly goods as follows:
My just debts are to be paid first out of my personal estate.
I hereby will and bequeath to my beloved Son, George W. Mathews, the Sum of fifteen hundred Dollars ($1500) as a donation.
Also to my beloved Son, Patrick H. Matthews the Sum of fifteen hundred Dollars as a donation.
Also to my beloved Son, Robert J. Mathews the Sum of one thousand dollars ($1000) as a donation.
Also to my beloved Son, William L. Mathews the Sum of One Thousand Dollars ($1000) as a donation.
I also will and bequeath to my beloved Daughter, Jane L. Powell - the Sum of two thousand Dollars ($2000) including the amount She has already received.
Also to my beloved daughter, Eliza A. Mathews - the Sum of Two Thousand Dollars ($2000) including the amount already received by her.
It is my will herein Set forth that my beloved wife, Mary L. Mathews and Charlotte S. Le--- are to have the home place on which I now reside, during this natural lives or if they choose, at anytime to Sell this Same and to put the purchase money on interest, if they shall think best, They are also to have the interest in the Sum of five thousand Dollars ($5000) during their natural lives.
I have in money and notes and money due from Baltimore to amount of twenty thousand Dollars ($20,000).
I hereby will and bequeath to my beloved Sons, George W. Mathews, Patrick H. Mathews, Robert J. Mathews and William L. Mathews: also to my beloved Daughter J. L. Powell, Eliza A. Mathews and Emily V. Mathews, an equal share or portions of Said money to the amount of Two Thousand Dollars each - herein before bequeath to my beloved daughters, Jane L. Powell, Eliza A. Mathews and Emily V. Mathews to be included in their Shares respectively.
It is my will that the farm usually known as the Luke farm and also the Lot in Fayetteville known as Bobbit Lot - be Sold wherever the by--- before mentioned may agree to Sell the Same and that the proceeds thereof be equally divided between Said Legal--- Respectively.
I nominated and appoint George W. Mathews, Patrick H. Mathews and Robert J. Mathews as executors of this my last will and testament. In testimony whereof I hereto Subscribe my name this 2th day of July A.D. 1872.
