Dr Sam Price died last night at the Bluefield Sanitarium after a ten days illness with typhoid fever which it is thought developed into typhoid pneumonia. Dr Price was a son of Dr R S Price of Montvale, a, and is survived by two brothers, both of whom are physicians - Dr W H Price, of Big Creek, and Dr R E Price, of Montvale. He also leaves a sister, Mrs W W Slicer of Cripple Creek, Va, a sister-in-law of George W Slicer, of this city.
Dr Price was very well known in the field and for some time was associated with Dr H D Hatfield in the work at Miner's Hospital and later on went to Switchback, where he worked hard at the time of the mine explosions and it is believed overdid himself with long hours in the inclement weather. He was a young man, only 26 years of age, and on account of his ability for hard work had a most promising career which was nipped in its infancy by the grim reaper.
The deceased was a member of the Presbyterian church and will be buried on Sunday at Montvale with the rites of that church. His father was with him at the time of his death and will accompany his remains on the homeward trip this morning, leaving the city on train No 4. G W Slicer also accompanied the remains. Dr Price was a member of Huntington lodge No 253 B P O E.
Dr Price's grandmother was buried on Sunday last. She was a member of one of the most famous families of Virginia.
