Mr. Elam was a retired farmer, elevator worker and painter.
He was born Apr. 13, 1901, a son of the late Thomas Washington Elam and Mary Olive "Ollie‘ Kates Elam. He was married to Pearl Barding in Alton, Ill. On Nov. 22, 1928. She died June 2, 1977. Mr. Elam was a member of St. Patrick‘s Catholic Church, Pana. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Mary Ann) Puckett of Pana and Mrs. Richard (Mildred/Millie) Meyerholz of Ramsey; three brothers, Orville (wife, Fay) and Gilbert (wife, Ruth), both of Decatur, and Cletus (wife, Pearl) of Pana; sister, Elnora (husband, Frank) Houser of Sullivan; also 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Three sisters, Edith Parkison, Alice Haubner, and infant Rosie G. preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 18, in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with burial in Linwood Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Stumpf-Dodson Funeral Home, Pana, is in charge of arrangements.
