OBITUARY
THE CHARITON LEADER
Chariton, Iowa
Tuesday, January 22, 1929
MRS. NORA E. BREWER
Nora E. Johnston, eldest daughter of Frank R. and Laura Johnston, was born July 10, 1894, near Russell, Iowa, and departed this life January 13, 1929, at her home near Indianola. She was 34 years, 6 months and 3 days of age at the time of her passing.
She was married March 11, 1914, to Claude R. Brewer. To this union were born four children, Kendrick, 13, Lowell, 11, Agnes, 8 and Dwight, 3.
This was an unusually happy home until a few weeks ago when sickness came to them and a deep gloom seemed to settle over them, a gloom that the husband and father was unable to bear, and at this time he lingers between life and death in the hospital in Des Moines.
Nora Johnston gave her heart to God early in life and united with the Methodist church at Russell. Later her membership was transferred to the Methodist church at Indianola where she was a faithful member. She was a loving wife and mother, and by her beautiful Christian character she made friends with all with whom she came in contact.
She leaves to mourn her death her husband, Claude, her children, Kendrick, Lowell, Agnes and Dwight, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. B. Johnston, two sisters and one brother, Mildred Snedekker, of Brule, Nebr., and Alta and Glen Johnston of Russell, besides a host of friends and relatives in whose memory she will always linger.
Funeral services were held at the Overton Funeral Home in Indianola on Wednesday morning, conducted by the Rev. Arthur Atack. The body was then brought to Russell where funeral services, also conducted by Rev. Atack, were held at the M. E. church on Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Russell cemetery.
