A. C. GILBERT

Abraham Carter Gilbert was born in Garrard county, Kentucky, on Aug. 11, 1820, and died May 12, 1912, of old age and a complication of diseases.

When 16 years old he moved with his parents to Hendricks county, Indiana. He was married in 1844 to Nancy Mehallen and came to Iowa in the early 50's.

He united with the Methodist church in 1836 and in 1888 went to the Christian Union, there being no Methodist class near him. He remained a faithful Christian and a good and kind neighbor to the end.

He leaves one daughter to mourn her loss, Mrs. David Ody, of Whitebreast township.

Funeral services were held at the Ody home on Monday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. Theodore H. Aszman, of this city, after which interment took place in the Grimes cemetery.

His death will be mourned by a host of friends, who will extend sincere sympathy to the sorrowing daughter.
