Prayer services for Mrs. John F. Arantz will be held at 7:30 Friday night at Brown’s Chapel on Ferry Street and funeral services are to take place at 10 o’clock Saturday morning at St. Ann’s Catholic Church.  Rev. Patrick Buckley will officiate at both services.

Mrs. Arantz, widely known former local resident, died at 4 o’clock Thursday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. V.A. McNamee, in Birmingham.  She was 81 years of age.

Mrs. Arantz is survived by three daughters, Mrs. O.F. Baur, Nashville; Mrs. Norman Brown, Dixon, Tennessee and Mrs. McNamee; two sons, Carl F. Arantz, Decatur and Arthur J. Arantz, of Birmingham.  Fourteen grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. Arantz was a resident of Decatur more than 50 years, having come here from Illinois.  A short time ago she went to live with her daughter in Birmingham.  She was an active and devoted member of the Catholic church all of her life and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew her.
