William Cartright Funeral Rites to Be Held Tuesday

Funeral services for William C. Cartright, 58, former Fresno cigar maker and joint owner of the Subway Club at 1205 Broadway, who died at his home yesterday morning, will be held at 10:30 o'clock Tuesday morning at the J. N. Lisle Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Belmont Memorial Park. Cartright suffered a stroke late Friday night and never regained consciousness.

With his partner, H. J. Barnhill, they began their cigar making in a shop at the rear of Barnhill's home, 1219 Echo Avenue in 1910. Three years later they moved to their present headquarters in the Subway Club. When the saloon of Paul Frohberg was changed to a soft drink stand, the partners took over the lease and have operated it as a restaurant and club room for the past ten years.

Cartwright, who has been in Fresno for the past twenty-eight years, leaves his widow, Elta Cartright of Fresno. He was a brother of Mrs. Eva Pond and C. G. Cartright, both of Fresno, Mrs. L. Young of Caruthers, and A. L. Cartright of Oklahoma.
