Henry is a direct descendent of Lt. Richard Hubbell called "Sergt." (who immigrated to Conn. in the 1640s) and Richard's 1st wife Elizabeth Meigs and Richard's 2nd wife Elizabeth Gaylord. Henry's grandparents Ezekial and Catherine were both Hubbells/cousins. Henry Wilson Hubbell jr. is the son of Henry W. Hubbell sr. and Jane Maria Bostwick both of Bridgeport, Conn.

Henry's ancestors were of an old seafaring family of Stratford and Bridgeport, Conn. His grt. grandfather Capt. Amos Hubbell and grt. grt. grandfather Capt. Richard Hubbell III commanded an armed ship called "Julius Ceasar" during the Revolutionary War who captured a British ship 20 Feb. 1783, presenting their prize to Gen. George Washington.

Henry's wife Sarah Worth Sprague was the daughter of Breveted Brig. Gen. (Civil War) John Titcomb Sprague (grandson of Brig. Gen. Jonathon Titcomb) and Mary Stafford Worth daughter of Major Gen. William Jenkins Worth (famous war hero of Monterey and Seminole War) and Margaret Stafford (granddaughter of Col. Joab Stafford, Revolutionary war vet, battle of Bennington)

Henry and Sarah's son Stafford Sprague Hubbell b. 12 Aug. 1883 d. 14 Aug. 1899 is buried with his grandmother Mary Worth Sprague and grt. grandmother Margaret Stafford Worth at Saint Augustine National Cemetery.
