Ruth was the second child of John Moore Oppy and Lucretia Dawson. She was first wife of Alfred K. Moore. They were married on Christmas Day in 1896 in Iroquois County, Illinois. They had a daughter, Erbie Ruth (James B.) Sayler (1898-1973). Ruth died in a hospital in Chicago.
