MRS. ELIZABETH ALLEN DEAD

Mrs. Elizabeth Banks Allen, who lived at 1018 Cottonwood, died Monday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock in Newman Memorial County hospital. No funeral arrangements have been made.

Mrs. Allen was born February 14, 1876, in Osage City, Mo., a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Perry Hemsley. She was married to Howard Banks in Independence, Mo., and they came to Emporia in 1906. Mr. Banks died in 1923, and in 1926 she was married to Thornton Allen in Emporia. He died January 16, 1949.

Survivors are two sons, Howard I. Banks, Washington, D.C., and Henry Banks, Denver, Colo.; three daughters, Mrs. Mamie Reams, Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Ruth White, 1017 Cottonwood, and Mrs. Christina Gibson, Chickasha, Okla.; five stepsons, Bert Allen, 716 Congress, Eugene Allen, 832 East, Charles, Tom and Jesse Allen, Kansas City, Mo; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Mamie Fitchett, 1024 Cottonwood, Mrs. Mamie Stewart, 820 East, and Mrs. Francis Hutcherson, East Twelfth; one sister, Mrs. Clara Campbell, Kansas City, Mo.; six granddaughters, four grandsons and six great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the St. James Baptist church.
