Clara Almeada Abbott, 97, of Detroit Lakes, formerly of Carsonville Township died July 2 1990 at St Mary's Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes Minnesota.
She was born April 18, 1893 to Robert and Martha Lemon in Carsonville Township in Becker County where she grew up and attended school. She attended the Normal Teachers Training in Detroit Lakes. She taught for several years in Carsonville. She married Curtis Abbott June 18, 1913 in Park Rapids. They farmed and raised their family near Ponsford until 1963 when they retired and moved to Detroit Lakes. In 1980 she moved to St Mary's Nursing Home where she has resided since.
She was a member of The Helping Hands Club in Ponsford and Zion Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes.
Surviving are her two daughters Evelyn (Marvin) Henderson of Park Rapids and Marie Olson of Detroit Lakes; one son, Willard (Louise) Abbott of Park Rapids; 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Curtis, two sisters, five brothers and son in law Ernest Olson.
Funeral serices were held Friday July 6, 1990 at 1:30 PM at Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel in Park Rapids with the Rev. David A. Robatzen officiating. Organist was Connie Bruce and soloist was Orville Hawkins.
Honorary pallbearers were Earl McGrane, George Mc Grane, Joe Mack, Jim Mack, Ken Lymburner, Neil Chilton and Robert Abbott.
Pallbearers were Rodney Olson, Tom Olson, Tim Olson, Barry Abbott, David Abbott and Eugene Henderson.
Burial will be at Linnell Cemetery near Ponsford. Cease Family Funeral Home in Park Rapids was in charge of all the arrangements.
