Eleanor was the eldest child of Sullivan and Lalla Woodham; grand-daughter of Charles Welborne and Nancy "Lanie" Hearon Woodham and Acey Edward and Ara Leila Smith Woodham.

Eleanor was an accomplished musician, winning numerous awards and was a 1937 graduate of Coker College. She was a concert pianist before becoming a private music teacher and church organist.

She was married to Benjamin David Tomlinson of Olanta for many years. They made their home in Georgetown, SC before moving to Tallahassee, FL.

She lived in an assisted living facility in Bristol, Florida before moving to a nursing home in Blountstown, Florida, where she spent her last year.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, her younger sister, Martyn Skinner, a grand-son, Michael Christopher Scarbrough, and a grand-niece, Caroline Bolles Terry. She was survived by a son and a daughter, a grand-daughter, three great-grand-daughters, four nieces and numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
