Liz died Friday July 24, 2009, at Alpine Village in Verdigre.
Visitation was held Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Verdigre with a 7:30 p.m. wake service.

Elizabeth "Liz", daughter of Joe and Mary (Dolejs) Evert, was born August 18, 1916 at Olean, NE where she was baptized and attended school, graduating from the 8th grade.
On January 12, 1938, she was married to Henry Rhode at Olean. Four daughters were born to them, Janet, who lived to the age of 8 months, Marlene, who passed away at the age of 2, Shirley and Doris.
On June 11, 1976, Liz married George Zila of Winnetoon. She entered Alpine Village in Verdigre in December of 1997.
Liz was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Verdigre, and its Altar Society. She enjoyed cooking and baking, cleaning, gardening, quilting, and card playing.
Survivors include her daughters and their husbands, Shirley and Cornelius Schroeder of Norfolk and Doris and Ed Meyer of Creighton; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, Henry Rhode and George Zila; 2 daughters; 6 brothers; 5 sisters; and one great grandson, Wade Wendt.
