Aaron H. Malaby was born in Lycoming County, PA, the son of John Malaby and Phebe Herrington Malaby (Phebe Follmer in the latter years of her life) of Lycoming County Pennsylvania He was married to Hannah Elizabeth Gosner Malaby, daughter of Mary and Frederick Gosner of Lycoming County, PA. He was a blacksmith. Aaron established his last shop in about 1899 about two miles east of Foreman, AR on the Alleene road. His son, John Gosner Malaby (buried at Hillcrest Cemetery in Texarkana, TX) worked with him and later established a blacksmith/repair shop of his own in downtown Foreman.
Aaron was a veteran of the Civil War, 7th Pennsylvania Cavalry Regiment, Company B. He enlised in 1864, was captured at Clark Creek Station, TN in the fall of 1864 and was imprisoned at Camp Sumpter "Andersonville" in Georgia. He was released in in the spring of 1865. He moved to Missouri after the war, then to Farmington TX, a small Community 8 miles south of Sherman, TX. A few years later, sometime before 1880, the family moved to Queen City, TX, then to Texarkana (or New Boston) in the late 1890's, and finally to Foreman, AR for the last year or two of his life.
