Eunice was the second of four children born to August and Tillie (Rosenquist) Okeson. She was born and raised on her father's home farm, in section 11, on the east side of Eagle Lake in Eagle Lake Township, Otter Tail County. She was baptized at Eagle Lake Lutheran Church June 3, 1918, and confirmed there October 30, 1932. She attended school at District No. 72 (later known as ISD 1418), just east of their farm. In her early years, her name was spelled "Junise Elisabeth," but she adopted the spelling Eunice early in life.

She moved to Fergus Falls in approximately 1945, and married Henry Lillevold in Sisseton, South Dakota, May 2, 1953. They lived in Fergus Falls and had two children.

She died at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls, and her funeral was held at Augustana Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.

Eunice's mitochondrial (maternal) DNA haplogroup was J1c3.
