"Grove" was the 12th child of Charles Henry Hurt and Sarah Jane Scudamore. Married Eva Margaret Dunlap in 1930. Father of Margaret Hurt, Phillip Grover Hurt, and Steven Harland Hurt. Grove and his brother Joe both went through basic training at Camp Lewis in Washington State. He was a Wagoner in the Army for the 251 Ambulatory Company, 13th Division.
