Frances Rena Curtis Brown, born December 19, 1916 in Caroline County, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2009.

She was the widow of Bernard Castle Brown. She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas "Tommy" Wayne Brown, who played football at Marshall University and passed suddenly in the Marshall University Football Team plane crash in 1970.

She was also preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by three children, Bernard C. "Buddy" Brown and his wife, Jo, Shirley B. Small and Donald "Donnie" J. Brown; granddaughter, Sharon Stodulski and husband, Ski; grandsons, Bert Brown and wife, Sarah, David Brown, Chris Brown and Justin Brown; four great-grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren; sister, Lucille Armstrong.

She also leaves a beloved and faithful friend, Nancy Brown; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Brown served for many years as cafeteria manager for Henrico County Schools.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Mechanicsville Chapel Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Road, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday.

Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
