PROCTOR, MILDRED 1916-2000- 84, of Oneida, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2000 at Scott County Hospital in Oneida. She was the daughter of the late C.K. LEWALLEN and MAGGIE WEBB LEWALLEN and was also preceded in death be her stepmother, EMMA GALLOWAY LEWALLEN; her husband, W. N. PROCTOR, Jr., brothers and sister-in-law, C. K. LEWALLEN, Jr., BURNICE LEWALLEN, W. E. (LOU) and FRAN LEWALLEN, and infant brother, PAUL RUSSELL LEWALLEN. Mrs. PROCTOR was a retired school teacher having taught for 34 years in the Oneida and Scott County School systems. She was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church in Oneida, where she was church organist and Sunday School teacher. Survivors include her son, BILL PROCTOR and wife SANDRA of Mt. Orab, Ohio, brother-in-law and sister-in-laws, JOHN and BETTY COOPER, Mrs. BURNICE (SHIRLEY) LEWALLEN, and Mrs. C. K. (VERA) LEWALLEN; one granddaughter, BETH MARIE LEIMBERGER and her husband MATTHEW of Mt. Orab, Ohio, one great-grandchild, NICKY G. LEIMBERGER; several nieces and nephews, and special friends, CLARA VAUGHN and LUCILLE STANLEY. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 20, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Oneida with Bro. DOUG WILDER officiating. Burial was in Carson Memorial Cemetery. Mildred Lewallen Proctor"Mildred Proctor, Funeral services held Tuesday for longtime teacher Mildred Proctor – Mildred Proctor, who compiled 34 years of teaching in the Oneida and Scott County school systems before her retirement, died Sunday at the Scott County Hospital. She was 84. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Oneida with the Rev. Doug Wilder officiating. Burial followed in the Carson Memorial Cemetery. She was the widow of the late William N. ""Bill"" Proctor, who served as Mayor of the Town of Oneida. Born in Glenmary, the daughter of C. K. and Maggie Webb Lewallen, she received her early education at Oneida Elementary and High School, graduating in 1934. She attended college at Maryville College and Tennessee Tech in Cookeville. She taught four years in the Scott County School System and 30 years in the Oneida system. A longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Oneida, Proctor served as organist for her church from 1963 to 1973. She also performed duties as a Sunday School teacher and held memberships on the church's Administrative Board, Finance Committee and served as a trustee. She is survived by a son, Bill, of Mt. Orab, Ohio; a grandchild, Beth Marie Leimberger of Mt. Orab, Ohio; and a great-grandchild, Nicky G. Leimberger. " (Source: The Independent Herald, 22 Jun 2000, p1)
