"Pearl Barleen, son of Jonas and Virginia Barleen, was born November 20, 1881, near Cuba, Kan., and died suddenly at his home on November 6, 1960, at the age of 78 years, 11 months and 16 days.
"He moved with his parents to Lincoln township at the age of eleven, and except for two years in western Kansas he resided on a farm in this community.
"He was married on March 4, 1907, to Etta Dodge in Concordia, who survives him with six children.
"Lucille, now Mrs. H. C. Myers of Belleville, Velma, now Mrs. J. N. Nutter of Belleville, Fern, now Mrs. Clifford Garlow of Concordia, Vernon Barleen of Concordia, Jean, now Mrs. S. A. Bergstrom of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Donald Barleen of Klamath Falls, Ore.; one brother, Orval Barleen of Concordia; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
"Funeral services were held at the Highland Baptist church at Scandia on November 10, and burial was in the Highland Church cemetery."
