John Albert Ashley, Choctaw, early day state farmer who fought in the Civil War as a Confederate, will be buried in the Harrah Cemetery Monday afternoon following 2:00 p.m. services in the Choctaw Baptist Church.

Ashley, who died Saturday night in University hospital after an illness of several months, joined the Confederate ranks in Mississippi early in 1864 and fought until the end of the war. He was not wounded.

Ashley moved into the southern part of Oklahoma shortly before the turn of the century, and later moved to Choctaw. He came to the state from Texas.
