Mordecai Ambrose enlisted on August 17, 1862 at Paris, Bourbon Co., Ky. as a commissioned officer in Co., S, 7th Ky. Vol. Cav. Rank: Chaplin. Mustered out on September 6, 1863. He was commissioned an officer in the U.S. Volunteers Hospital Chaplains Infantry Regiment on September 28, 1863 at Lexington, Fayette Co., Ky. and mustered out on July 14, 1864. Enlisted as a Chaplin on October 17, 1864 in Co., S, 47th Ky, Inf. and promoted to Full Chaplin on the same day. Mustered out on December 26, 1864 at Lexington, Fayette Co., Ky.
