John Durbin Dead

Carrolltown, Jan 5

Cambria County lost one of its pioneer citizens Tuesday morning when John Durbin, 74
years, two months and 26 days old, died at his home near Chest Springs in Clearfield township.
The aged man several days ago contacted a severe cold which developed
into a fatal attack of pneumonia.

Mr. Durbin was born at Munster. He
lived in that locality all his life, owning at the time of his death a large
farm. Before the weight of his years forced him to retire, Mr. Durbin was
active in lumbering and farming. In his
young days he was a school teacher. He is survived by one son, Thomas Durbin,
at home; two daughters, Mrs. P. M. Swope of Carrolltown and Miss Evaline Durbin
of Cleveland, one brother, Luke Durbin of White township.

Following mass at 9:30 o'clock Thursday morning in the St. Boniface
Catholic church, interment was made in the church cemetery.
