Holt Services Held

Funeral services for Mrs. Samuel Holt, formerly of Emporia, who died Wednesday in Colorado Springs, Colo., were held Saturday morning in the St. James Baptist Church. They were conducted by the Rev. W.A. Chambers, pastor of the church. The combined choirs of the St. James and the Mount Olive A.M.E. Churches sang, with Mrs. Leo Turner as soloist and Mrs. Berryman Holt as accompanist. The condolences were read by Mrs. John Wells and the pall bearers were Robert. W. Johnson, Rupert Overstreet. Grant Burton, Fred W. Taylor, Claude W. Dell and Troy Roberts. Members of the choir, in addition to Mrs. Turner, were Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Walls and Mesdames Overstreet, Johnson, John Walls, Frank McClain, Urie Drake, Floyd Smith and Alberta Curl. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery.

Relatives who attended from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Dorsey Sr., Alberta and Virgil Dorsey Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Milton White, Colorado Spring; Ola M. Jones, Ella McGlory and Rachel Dyer, Oklahoma City, Ok.; Lucille and James M. Shepherd, Wichita; Louis Holt, Los Angeles, Calif.; Elizabeth and Fredonia Wright, Arcadia, Okla.; Kenneth E. Dorsey, Fountain, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Murray Jr. and children, Mia and Mark, Topeka; and Clarence Davis, Kansas City, Mo.
