John Daniel Pheonix, 87, of Mount Vernon, formerly of Springfield, died Saturday at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Mount Vernon. Born in Niantic, Mr. Pheonix was the son of the late James and Bitha Andrews Pheonix. He was married to the former Josephine Antrum and she preceded him in death this year. One infant son, five brothers and five sisters also preceded him in death.
Mr. Pheonix retired from Fiat-Allis as a machinist and was a active member of the Villa Hills Assembly of God Church in Belleville.
Surviving are three sons, James, John "Sam" and Joseph; one daughter, Mrs. JoAnn Carlile; one sister, Mrs. Myra Ohl of Long Beach, Calif.; eight grandchildren.
Services at Oak Ridge Cemetery Chapel. Burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield.
