Funeral for Evelyn A. Hunter, 71, of Rusk will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Rusk Church of Christ with Robby Arrington officiating. Burial will be in the Atoy Cemetery under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home. Mrs. Hunter died Oct. 2 in Hospice of East Texas Home-Place, Tyler. She was born Aug. 3, 1934, in San Antonio. She was a member of the Rusk Church of Christ; retired in 1994 after 20 years as a deputy in the Cherokee County tax office.

Preceding her in death were her father, Walter Gregory; mother, Elizabeth Gardner; sister, Betty Gregory; and son Rick Hunter.

Survivors are her husband of 54 years, Wallace Hunter of Rusk; a daughter and son-in-law, Sheri and Jim Hoffman of Victoria; a son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Susan Hunter of Rusk; two granddaughters, Kimberly Flowers and Larissa Hoffman, both of Victoria; three great-grandchildren, Morgann Zimmer, Brooke Hoffman, and James Hoffman, all of Victoria; and her step-father, Howard Gardner of Rusk.

Pallbearers will be Jim Hoffman, David Walley, Jimmy Walley, Michael Tugwell, Ricky Monkress and David Beard. Memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University, Tyler 75701; and Church of Christ, 202 N. Main, Rusk 75785.
