ST. PAUL - Joseph E. Gdanitz, 92, of St. Paul died Monday, Nov. 13, 1995, at his home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Revs. Michael McDermott, Richard Piontkowski and Walter Phelan will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery at St. Paul. Visitation will be...at Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul...
Mr. Gdanitz was born Nov. 7, 1903, at Elba to August and Magdaline (Nowak) Gdanitz. He attended District 18 School near Farwell. He farmed with his father near Farwell before farming on his own near Elba. He married Helen Schmidt on Nov. 26, 1935, at St. Paul. The couple farmed near Midway Corner from 1946 to 1964. They then moved to Grand Island for three years before moving to St. Paul. He enjoyed carpentry, playing solitaire and working in his yard. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Gerald of Burwell; one daughter, Geraldine (Mrs. Clayton) Peterson of Wolbach; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and two sisters, Lucille Strezelcki and Carolyn Springer, both of Lincoln. He was preceded in death by one brother, Julius; and two sisters, Mary Wolinski and Mathilda Curtis.
