Tecumseh resident Linzay Quintien May died Sunday, July 19, 2009, in Shawnee at the age of 86.

He was born Feb. 2, 1923, in Clavin, Okla, to Virgil M. and Josephine Irene (Rasey) May. Born in Calvin, he grew up in the Holdenville area where he attended school. He later joined the armed forces, serving with the US Navy in World War II. Upon leaving the Navy, he joined the US Army and retired after serving more than 20 years. Upon retirement from the military, he began a career in civil service at Tinker Air Force Base and retired from there after more than 20 years. He enjoyed playing dominoes and canasta with his family. He also enjoyed woodworking and fishing. He married Elisabeth Baumann on Nov. 30, 1954, in Muskogee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Calvin and Ruth May; sister and brother-in-law, Ova and Clarence Hollowell; brothers, Lloyd and Albert May and a brother-in-law, Bennie Smith. Survivors include his wife, Elisabeth May of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Dolores and Kim Storie of Tecumseh, Ruth and Thomas Meeks of Nashville, Tenn; and Lisa and Paul Williams of Shawnee; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Eddie and Marge May of Mustang, Danny and Saundra May of Tecumseh, John and Terry May of Shawnee, Charles May of Shawnee; and Richard and Tracy May of Shawnee; 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Virgil M. "Junior" and Ethel May of Shawnee sister and brother-in-law, Violet and George Ross of Idabel; sisters-in-law, Martina Wenig, Johanna Pfaffinger, Rosa Groeber and her husband Helmut; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
