I found Michiel and his wife Margaret S. in the 1900 and 1910 Federal Census. It stated that Michael was the Postmaster and Margaret the Asst. Postmaster.

FLORENCE: DEC. 15- M.P. Shoup, aged 73 for seventeen years a resident of Fremont County, died at his home in this city yesterday afternoon after an illness of three weeks with Bright's Disease.
..Before coming to Florence seven years ago he was a postmaster of the coal mining town of Brookside, CO. He is survived by a wife and seven children, three sons and four daughters.
...The funeral will be held from the Deibert undertaking parlors at 2 o'clock this afternoon. Rev. W.G. Carter, of the Christian Church officiating.
