She was a daughter of the late John H. and Susan Boyd Baker. She had taught school at Barton, Madison, Wooster and Woodlawn, as did her husband. After his death, she taught at Rison and Kingsland. She had lived at Rison after her retirement, until ill health caused her to move here.
She was a lifelong Baptist and was a member of the Rison Baptist Church and after moving to Pine Bluff, she was a member of Greenlee Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Nelson B. Eubank of Pine Bluff; a foster daughter, Mrs. J.C. Rauls of Rison; two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Black of Baton Rouge and Mrs. Annabelle McKinney of Rison; four brothers, Rev. B.O. Baker of Booneville, Robert E. Baker of Petaluma, CA, Rev. J.D. Baker of Little Rock and R.D. Baker of Helena; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
I aquired many of Ms. May's belongings thru an estate auction. I was pleasantly surprised to find that she taught my father-in-law and his sister at Kingsland in the 40's. Thru reading her many letters and diaries, I feel as though I know this sweet lady. I am sure she was a joy to be around, and a wonderful Christian lady.
