William E. Ackerman Sr., 47, of 339 E. Southside Court, died at 9:45 a.m. Monday at Methodist Evangelical Hospital. Deputy Coroner Lloyd Roemele said Ackerman died of a heart attack. He was a consultant in the industrial relations department at International Harvester, where he had worked for 21 years. Ackerman was an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of Third Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, the former Virginia Mae Potts; a daughter, Mrs. Susan Lea King; a son, William E. Ackerman Jr., Lexington; and his stepmother, Mrs. Gladys Treat. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Arch L. Heady Southern Funeral Home, 3601 Taylor Blvd., with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. The body will be at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Thursday.
