Ethel M. Isaacson, 78, of Hancock, died at her home on Wednesday, May 7, 2008.

She was born August 11, 1929 in Ripley, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth (Campbell) Jaehnig. After attending the Ripley School, she graduated from Hancock High School.

In her early working years, she was employed as an operator for Michigan Bell Telephone Company. After spending time at home with her growing family, she later returned to work at Suomi College in Hancock until retirement.

Ethel was first married to Peter Ebert of Ripley. She was later married to Lloyd Isaacson of Dollar Bay who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Fred; two sisters, Eleanor and Charlotte.

She was a member of the Hancock Eagles Auxiliary and was involved in ladies league bowling for many years. She was an avid sports fan, especially enjoying the Cubs, Vikings, Pistons and NASCAR.

She is survived by eight children: Christine (Pat) Kolka of Whitelaw, Wis., Donny (Nikki) Ebert of Woodside Location, Susan (Jim) Cragle of Chico, Calif., Sandra Salo of Manitowoc, Wis., Julie (Don) DeForge of Dodgeville, Alan Ebert of Ripley, Geoffrey (Tammy) Ebert of Milford, NH and Joel Ebert of Milwaukee; 21 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Irwin "Mort" Jaehnig; three sisters, Liz (Bob) Howell, Barbara Curnow and Mary Bray; and by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the O'Neill-Dennis Funeral Home in Hancock with Rev. Robert White to officiate. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton.
