MR. McCOLLOUGH
ROANOKE, Ala. -- Mr. A.G. McCollough, 85, of Roanoke died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 2 p.m. at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel in Roanoke with the Revs. Tim Teague and Harold Bonner officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.
Mr. McCollough is survived by his wife, Loretta Steen McCollough of Roanoke; a nephew raised as a son, Joseph "Joey" Vaienzuela of Roanoke; his sister, Rena Whitley of Roanoke; his brother, Sam McCollough of Colleyville, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
Born Nov. 9, 1914 in Chambers County, Mr. McCollough had lived in Roanoke most of his life. He spent 23 years in Alexander City, Ala., and returned to Roanoke in 1980. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, serving in Germany and the Philippines. He was a founding member of First Church of God. Mr. McCollough had worked as an auto mechanic with the Alabama State Highway Department. He was the son of the late David and Beulah Carpenter McCollough.
The family will receive friends Monday, Sept. 24 at Quattlebaum Funeral Home in Roanoke from 5 to 8 p.m.
