Henry C. "Hank" Mellone, 78, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, at his home.
He was born Feb. 9, 1931, in New York City. He moved to Cape Girardeau in 1968.

Mellone was a veteran of the Korean conflict.

He earned a master's degree in business from Washington University. He was the former owner and operator of Eggimann Feed and Seed and a few other small businesses over the years. He was a lifelong teacher and learner who worked many years for Missouri colleges and the extension service. He was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church.

Mellone enjoyed gardening, friends and family and loved being outdoors.

He will be missed by his brother, Mike Mellone; sisters, Gloria Mellone and Louise Bruno; sons, Tony, Wil and Ric Mellone; a daughter, Lynne Grabar; and grandsons, Clayton, Dominic and Luka Mellone.

"Hank made it today."

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Lynwood Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mark Anderson officiating.

Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be given to Lynwood Celebrate Recovery.
