OBITUARY
Frances Christopher Arnold was born on the 29th of January in 1908 in Wamego, Kansas. His father was Louis Peter Arnold, who moved to Kansas from Indiana. His mother was Magdelena Sophia Ziegler, who immigrqted to the United States from Russia. Francis was the third eldest in the family of eleven children of five boys and six girls. Wamego is a small town located about 15 miles east of Manhattan, Kansas next to the Kansas River. and adjacent to the Union Pacific Railroad Line.
Francis spent his first fifteen years in Wamego. Schooling was received at St. Bernard's Catholic School. When Francis was in the fouth or fifth grade, a teaching sister at school commented on his size as being no bigger than a small mosquito and said she would call him "Skeeter". The nickname "Sheets" was created and it was used by most of his family and friends since then - probably a good substitue for his real name of Francis.
Skeets life changed in the mid 1930's. He was working on road crews in a farming community near where his older brother Leo was living. During an ice cream social, Skeets was introduced to Georgia Marie Kratochvil. A friendship began and a courtship followed. Skeets and Georgia were married in Wamego, Kansas in 1939. They move to Denver to start their new life together.
Skeets and Georgia were blessed with two sons- Bob in 1940 and Lou in 1941.
Francis Christopher Arnold died October 7, 1987 at Rose Medical Center. He was a little over 79 years and 8 months old. Skeets had a long and productive life here. He was married to Georgia for over 48 years.Grandchildren Jason, Allison and Ryan along with step children - Gilbert, Rosemary, Diane and Paul and step great-grandchildren Nanette, Leroy and Danny also added joy to the family.
Skeets is survived by three brothers. Leo, Pete, and Frank and four sisters - Marie, Elizabeth, Florence and Jo. numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Skeets had two sister- Kate and Genevieve and a brother Louis pereceded him in death.
Interment will be at Chapel Hills - Skeets will be remembers by his brothers, and sisters as a sickly person who complained little. A brother who accepted more than his responsibility in seeing that his mother was made comfortable as possible in her later years, and a person who they felt would help them, financially or otherwise, with no strings attached.
